Job description
This is a unique opportunity to join the Northern Film School at Leeds Beckett University.
We are one of the best-known film and television schools in the UK, recognised by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the top 10 film schools in the world to watch.
The Northern Film School has made innovative and award-winning films for over 25 years, offering a breadth of practice-based filmmaking courses at BA (Hons), MA and PhD levels, attracting students from around the world.
The Northern Film School is now at the centre of the newly established Leeds School of Arts housed in Leeds Beckett University's brand-new flagship building in the heart of the city centre, boasting a 200 seat Dolby Atmos Cinema; 4 x triple height fully lighting rigged film studios; a green screen studio; immersive sound mixing studios and an entire floor dedicated to post-production.
The increasing significance of the 'North' in the Creative Industries, in particular, Yorkshire and the Humber, is more visible than ever, with Channel 4 locating its National HQ in Leeds and the development of a strong and fast-growing production sector in cities across the North of England supporting production by Netflix, Apple TV, the BFI, BBC, and ITV.
Leeds has been recognised nationally as a thriving digital creative hub and an exciting, cultural city for students and, importantly, graduates.
It is well placed for students who understand the increasing significance of the role of visual and sonic storytelling and want to contribute to this growing community and beyond.
In this buoyant time for film and screen production, we are seeking a 0.5 Senior Lecturer with specialist knowledge in Cinematography to work across our film production courses.
You will have a strong track record of industry experience together with relevant experience in film education, demonstrating knowledge and expertise in the practice of Cinematography, together with an informed knowledge of the film process.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to engage and inspire students is essential, together with a flexible and collaborative approach to working within a teaching team.
