Belong School Devon is an independent special school for students aged 11 to 17 from across Devon. Our approach to learning is built around our vision of enabling all our students to become thriving, successful adults.
We work with young people and their families to develop learning strategies to overcome individual challenges and meet Education Health and Care Plan goals with our unshakable belief that with the right support, every pupil can learn, grow, and thrive.
We are seeking a fulltime, permanent English teacher to start as soon as possible once all recruitment checks are fully complete. The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher who is able to teach up to and including GCSE in English. Applications are welcomed from ECTs and experienced teachers.
We require a degree of flexibility to adapt to the needs of our students, the learning environment, and a commitment to meeting outcomes set on EHCPs and delivering targets set in IEPs. Experience of working in an SEMH setting/special school would be desirable but is not essential.
All students study English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 progressing to GCSE. Some students also opt to study English Literature at GCSE level. We place a strong emphasis upon relational practice and practical work to support learning.
