Providing more than just retirement apartments, The Shires Retirement Village offers first class accommodation with an array of communal facilities and a varied activity schedule.
As The Shire support staff you will be responsible for ensuring everyone who enters the village gets a warm and friendly welcome.
Providing excellent customer service to residents and the public, you'll have a friendly manner both face to face and over the phone.
Duties
Answer any resident emergency calls while on shift
Complete resident daily wellbeing check
Annual resident reviews & associated paperwork
Supporting our residents and encouraging them to partake in activities
Sitting at reception responding to any resident or public enquires
Assisting in any evening entertainment, events or activities
Set up/down of communal areas for events or meetings
Ensuring communal spaces are kept tidy
Health & Safety checks
Security checks
Basic reporting of any concerns, incidents or accidents
This is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you may be asked to undertake other tasks by your manager
Who we're looking for
A positive attitude, great communicator and friendly approach is essential in this role.
Ability to build strong relationship with our residents, their families and the wider village team is essential
You're approachable, detailed orientated, organised with an ability to handle a varied workload.
Village Support Staff Job Description
This role is at times lone working.
Read handover immediately after starting your shift & collect a handset
Answer any resident emergency calls while on shift and deal with the situation.
All staff will be trained to deliver first aid & must be confident to call 999 if they believe the situation warrant the emergency services.
Ensure all paperwork in relation to any emergency calls, accidents & handover is completed and stored correctly.Assist residents in dealing with any paperwork or issue that arise while you are on shift.
Manning the reception desk and acting as a friendly & professional first point of contact to all visitors. Providing advice and support both face to face and over the phone to residents and members of the public.
Being aware of what activities are scheduled for your shift and assisting in any entertainment, events or activities. This may include directing people to the event, checking tickets, set up/down of rooms, taking payments, removing finished refreshment tables etc
Assisting in the kitchen/bar or front of house service for an event while on shift (Training will be given).
Light cleaning and rearranging of communal areas & furniture to ensure communal areas always look neat & tidy
Health & safety checks of the building
Some laundry duties (clothes/ tablecloths) may be required
Completing designated health and safety & security checks at certain points throughout the evening. Documenting any concerns on handover sheets
Basic handover reporting of any incidents, accidents, complaints, complements or suggestions.
Completing designated monthly checks on time and ensuring all paperwork is completed and filed correctly.

Part-time hours: 19.50 per week
