Working with the ICB footprints the role will require the postholder to provide support for the commissioning of medical, pharmacy, optometry and dental service in support of the NHS Long Term plan.

Utilising 'Neighbourhood, Place and System' the postholder will champion collaborative commissioning, focus upon developing and commissioning integrated services, that support patients to manage their own care, prevent ill-health and access services in the most appropriate setting.

The Primary Care Commissioning Team is responsible for provision of medical, pharmaceutical, dental and optometry services.


As Business Support Officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the ICB footprints.


  • Provide high quality and timely business support services to assist with coordination of departmental business
- work flexibly across sites and meeting venues to coordinate administrative and secretarial services; including for example, the preparation for meetings and of agendas and minutes, taking appropriate follow-up action as required.

  • Supporting staff with the management of projects, service, initiative and administrative support including information and analysis.
  • Undertake reporting and analysis of information to support delivery.


The post holder is a key member of the team whose overarching goal is to enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to improve, inform and support a portfolio of projects, services, and initiatives.


  • This role is primarily working from home, although this may vary depending on circumstances.
  • General office conditions, with a requirement to use a VDU for eight hours on some days, with appropriate breaks.
  • There will be a requirement to travel between sites or to other organisations.
  • May be required to deal with verbal aggression from staff on rare occasions.


The ICS brings together our local NHS, councils, and voluntary sector to create an Integrated Care System where, together, we can better serve the population of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS was one of the first regions in England to be selected to provide integrated care. It consists of 4 Place-Based Partnerships (PBPs) and 23 Primary Care Networks (PCNs).

It is also one of the first ICS' nationally to become early adopters for the Culture and Leadership Programme (CLP) approach as a system, using its methodology to develop key areas of Organisational Development (OD), Quality Improvement (QI), Leadership and Culture.


As a system we are committed to ensuring that Integrated Care and leading transformation through system by default is our approach to better serve and meet the health and care needs of our population.

This role will be hosted by Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB, however, will provide a service across all 5 ICB's in the East Midlands - Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire

Delivering High Standards

  • Provide and support the Primary Care Commissioning team with a wide range of administrative and computer skills as well as maintaining a range of knowledge and understanding of procedures, protocols and functions within the defined ICB area
  • Act as first point of contact for Primary Care Commissioning within the ICB area for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Provide and receive complex information which contain contentious and sensitive information
Communicating and engaging with external and internal stakeholders which may require negotiation skills and understanding the needs/requirements and of other organisations, senior professionals and individuals

  • Updating and maintaining databases and/or spread sheets relevant to work area, and manage meeting arrangements including the taking and distribution of minutes etc.
  • To manage the diaries and associated arrangements of senior managers and directors
Improving quality and outcomes

  • To support the team to ensure that contractors are providing good quality care and outcomes for patients
  • To support the team to support delivery of Integrated Care System
objectives.
