    Mission & Main Objectives:

    AESC, a fast-growing leading EV battery technology company, is seeking a French and English-speaking Legal Counsel to be a member of the European legal team based in London.

    In this exciting role, you will work on a wide variety of corporate legal matters that reflect the changing needs of a high-growth EV battery business. These could include matters related to sales, purchasing, manufacturing, real estate, labor & employment, intellectual property, litigation, regulatory compliance and general commercial matters. You will build a corporate governance structure, manage internal legal know-how and support the business's growth initiatives in the UK, France and the wider Europe region.

    Outline and Responsibilities:

    • Support the General Counsel, EMEA on UK, French and wider European matters
    • Negotiate, draft and review commercial agreements
    • Take proactive ownership of in-house matters
    • Provide practical legal advice to major function teams (e.g., the Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Finance teams)
    • Manage external counsel on a cost-effective basis
    • Work collaboratively with international business teams in Europe, Asia and US on various Europe-related matters
    • Develop and provide compliance related training programs, manage filings and other corporate secretarial matters for corporate entities

    Experience and Qualifications Required:

    • The successful candidate will have at least 2 to 4 years of general corporate and commercial legal experience gained at a respected law firm and/or in-house at an MNC
    • A keen interest in working in a 'start-up' environment within the EV industry and possess a growth-mindset
    • Ability to expeditiously identify and assess issues and provide legally sound recommendations, consistent with good business practices
    • Must be creative and passionate about growing the business and understanding how to attain goals within different cultures
    • Candidates must be qualified to practice as a solicitor in either France or England
    • French and English (fluent) language skills are required, Chinese and Spanish are advantageous
