    Overall Purpose of the Job

    The Records Manager is a business and technology focused role which requires ambition and focus to help drive through the transformation required by an evolving institution against a background of increasing regulatory focus, transparency, competition, globalisation and a rapidly evolving threat horizon, especially in the information security space.

    To lead, manage and develop effective moving towards efficient electronic and paper based records management which ensures that the University meets its records management obligations in order to comply with data protection, freedom of information and other laws and statutes across its national and international sphere of academic and professional support services operations.

    Working within a team of information governance professionals, the Records Manager is responsible for supporting and helping protect the University's Faculties, Schools, Institutes and Professional Service functions by providing expert, pragmatic and targeted records management support, guidance and training, across the University, in accordance with the relevant legislation, University information governance programme, policies, standard operating procedures and technical security standards.

    Drawing upon prior experience in delivering information governance initiatives he/she will take information security, data protection and records management action items and work with academic and professional services stakeholders to ensure that these items are effectively delivered in accordance with the programme plan.

    Providing knowledgeable support on records management processes, including retention schedules, classification schemes, risk assessments, record surveys, incident and exception management procedures, the Records Manager will ensure that the aspirations and objectives of the baseline plan are translated into lasting and beneficial changes to the academic and business operation of University.
