Education Welfare Officer - £29,900 (pro rata for 40 weeks is £23,000 P/A) - Upshire, Essex

EWASS is committed to promoting the welfare and safeguards on all pupils in education settings.

As an Education Welfare Officer, you will be responsible for working with schools to promote good attendance and must have a good understanding of the EducationAct and legislative framework along with Government policy relating to school attendance.

The post will be for an initial one-year contract.

**Key Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of an Education Welfare Officer include, but are not limited to:

  • Keeping close contact with the school staff to track students' attendance.
  • Visiting houses of students who are missing out on school regularly and arranging for alternative education for them.
  • Holding inperson meetings with parents and students either at the school or at the homes.
  • Supporting the students who return to school after a long gap.
  • Ensuring that the pupils receive education both at home and at school.
  • Ensuring that the attendance of students is recorded correctly in accordance with government guidelines.
  • Sharing information with schools and external agencies and close liaison with social services where necessary
  • Adhering to the set deadlines and sharing the information with third parties like teachers, educational psychologists, probation officers, etc.

**The Person
The key skills and qualities of an Education Welfare Officer are:

  • Must have experience working as an Education Welfare Officer or similar role.
  • Good communication skills and knowledge of the English language.
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of the English language.
