Purpose of the job:

The function of the LV/MV mechanical team is to assemble Low Voltage/Medium Voltage switchgear, air circuit breakers and associated assemblies and in conjunction with the electrical and test teams ensure on time delivery to our customers.

The overall purpose of the Mechanical assembler role is to support the Team Leader and the team within the LV/MV Cell in the daily operations of the department to ensure the on time delivery of quality product to our internal and external customers.

Mechanical assemblers will assemble, adjust and where required check operation of mechanical components and assemblies. Working to company process standards and operating procedures for LV/MV switchgear.


Key accountabilities

  • Work safely as an individual and as part of a team in a physically demanding role.
  • Work as an individual or part of a team to ensure on time delivery to both internal and external customers.
  • Mark out, drill and fit equipment to layouts.
  • Must be able to read and work to Bills of materials, Standard operating procedures and assembly drawings.
  • Be competent to torque power connections.
  • Connect wiring looms and terminations as part of a mechanical assembly routine.
  • Work to instructions both verbal and written.
  • Work to process standards and operating procedures.
  • Capable of highlighting potential issues and suggesting rational corrective/preventative actions.
  • Capable and willing to transfer skills and knowledge to colleagues.
  • Responsible for achieving required output including productivity, Quality and attendance.
  • Operate KanBan stock.

Communications
Effective and regular communication between department members and internal customers is crucial.

In addition the post holder must engage in regular communication with:

  • Team leader and team members.
  • Engineering and Quality, Health & Safety.
