This is a newly created role for Disputes & Risk and would require someone who is keen to work with the Disputes & Risk Operations team and other Resource Managers to establish and implement Resource Management, managing capacity data efficiently and transparently, for the Practice Group. Whilst initially this role will focus on the Commercial Disputes team, we anticipate that the role will quickly expand to support resource allocation and management for the Practice Group across all UK locations.

You will also act as a trusted advisor to the lawyers and Partners by understanding client requirements and the wider needs of the business, in order to facilitate effective resourcing decisions.

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Ensuring maximum effectiveness of the work allocation within the Practice Group
  • Monitoring resource requirements for matters, anticipating and managing periods of increased/reduced busyness
  • Monitoring and managing holiday requests to ensure appropriate planning of holidays around periods of projected peak activity
  • Responsibility for inputting into the design and delivery of work allocation process improvements across the Practice Group
  • Working closely with the Practice Group's senior stakeholders including the Operations Director, Operations Manager, and HR Business Partner to achieve the firm's dedication to diversity, the importance of an inclusive culture and positive financial growth as well as other strategic projects
  • Attending management meetings to discuss workflow, ongoing needs, and utilisation levels
  • Monitoring chargeable and non-chargeable hours and ensure any over or under-utilised resources are flagged, providing feedback to stakeholders on any issues
  • What we're looking for

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Ability to think critically and at pace to find ideal work solutions
  • The ability to build strong, trust based, working relationships with colleagues (particularly at a senior level) as well as able to lead
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience in dealing with people at senior levels
  • Proven experience in working autonomously with minimal direction
  • Aptitude to quickly learn the nature of the work done by the group and considerations for resourcing this
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders
  • A good team player, excellent organisational skills and a commercial and business awareness
  • Strong understanding of, and ability to analyse, data and present it back to the partner team
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities to tight deadlines
  • Ability to respond to change, be innovative and offer creative solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively and impartially across various teams
  • Knowledge of Disputes & Risk work types such as litigation a plus
  • Experience in a similar role in a professional services environment a plus
