Children North East exists because growing up can be hard.

We work with babies, children and young people through the rollercoaster of growing up in their families, schools and communities.


Due to team expansion, we are looking to appoint a Poverty Proofing Co-ordinator to deliver the Poverty Proofing Health program and other services developed by Children North East.


Main Responsibilities

  • To be accountable to the Poverty Proofing Team Manager for service delivery and development.
  • To carry out Poverty Proofing audits in health settings. This includes working closely with and listening to the voices of patients, staff and stakeholders, and feeding back findings to senior leadership teams about barriers to health for people experiencing poverty.
  • To carry out Poverty Proofing activities primarily in health care settings. With additional scope to work across a variety of sectors including cultural and community venues, schools and early years settings.
  • To deliver and assist in the development of Children North Easts Poverty Proofing Health Model.
  • To gather the views of people of all ages using a person centred approach.
  • To respond to and report any Safeguarding concerns to your line manager, ensuring compliance with Children North East Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
  • To deliver Poverty Proofing training and CPD sessions to staff and stakeholders across a range of primarily health care settings.
  • To contribute to the delivery and coordination of Train the Trainers packages outside of the North East.
  • Create new networks and manage effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Support the Service, Head, Deputy and Team Managers in income generation for the service, including contributions to marketing and selling Poverty Proofing programmes, and funding bids.
  • To record monitor and evaluate Poverty Proofing programmes and prepare reports of findings from consultations.
  • To inform, challenge and impact policy and practice at a local, regional and national policy level.
  • To attend team meetings, individual supervision sessions and annual appraisal.
  • To lead and manage students, sessional workers and volunteers in accordance with CNE management protocols.
  • To promote the work of Poverty Proofing by speaking at conferences and events and contributing to publications.
  • To undertake training as agreed with the Poverty Proofing Team Manager.
  • To develop and deliver new services to health settings across the North East.

£28,034.00-£30,770.00 per year
