The role:

To underwrite business in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority with the purpose of underwriting a profitable account on behalf of Aspen in the UK and Aspen Values demonstrated in the delivery and performance.

- Contributes to, monitors and advises on the plan developments and changes in order to ensure relevancy, compliance and optimal delivery - Assists in the preparation and implementation of the operational team plans to ensure these are in line with wider business strategy and reflect key priorities.

- Determines own work priorities and activities in line with agreed plans to ensure the achievement of the function's objectives - Performs underwriting activities, as directed and in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met.

- Adheres to underwriting standards and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency in line with process control time frames.

- Contributes to recording and measurement of insurance risks to ensure accuracy, good practice and adherence to relevant performance standards (as prescribed by quality review process - Understands and complies with any insurance requirements to minimize risk and to deliver business plan objectives.

- Ensures that underwriting files are maintained in a logical and accessible manner and/or other underwriting issues are clearly documented at all times.

- Ensures awareness of and compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.

Key accountabilities:

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus Supports the provision of a professional underwriting service to uphold the reputation of the underwriting function and the company.

- Responds to internal and external stakeholder requests in accordance with service standards and best practice.

- Develops relationships with key stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues to support their needs, maximise influence, and achieve business objectives.

- Develops a knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to be able to support business performance.

Technical Performance - Underwrites insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the delegated underwriting authority to meet business objectives including: - Negotiating rates/ terms and conditions for existing and new business.

- Compliance in the production and issue of contract certainty documentation. - Supporting credit control in payment collection. - Participates in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives.

Other:
Aspen had top quartile results within Syndicate 4711 and excellent group result. The cyber team is positioned well with long standing claims team and primary offering, having written cyber since 2008. We are looking to grow the team in headcount as well as premium income.
