Great Britain Cycling Team - Podium Sprint Coach - Women

What you need is:


We are keen to hear from individuals who have the ability to lead a team and are able to maximize the skills and knowledge of the people around them.

A proven ability to inspire and support riders is key, along with a clear vision of the future of sprint cycling.


The role will be joining the rest of the team at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester and will include international travel to and from training camps and competitions.


Role Summary:


The purpose of the podium sprint coach role is to lead a world class multidisciplinary team to create a long-term performance plan orientated around Olympic success in Paris 2024 and LA 2028.


Blending together physical preparation, technical and tactical execution and qualification strategy the coach will provide the direction and the plan for their team around a clear performance destination.


Working directly with athletes delivering world leading technical and tactical coaching, the coach will also play a pivotal role in developing the person on the bike to not only thrive in a high performance environment but to also prepare them to successfully transition into life after sport.


Reporting to the Head Coach, the podium coach will also be a key member of the team of sprint pathway coaches, supporting and evolving the performance pathway with the aim of creating long term athlete development from identification through to Olympic success.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Providing proactive, solutionbased and innovative coaching for GBCT identified athletes through regular exposure to high quality training / competition practices, whilst developing a culture of excellence so that they can maximize their potential.
  • Working with the Head Coach & Performance Team, create and deliver a Performance Plan to achieve the defined medal targets.
  • Achieve agreed progression in line with trajectory to the podium targets and discipline Performance Plan with identified riders.
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating high quality individual rider plans (IRP) that align to the discipline Performance Plan, GBCT programme strategy and profiles for world class and developing athletes.
  • Supporting holistic development for riders as individuals, with Performance Support Team practitioners ensuring this is complimentary to performance.
  • Ensuring regular written and verbal communication is maintained with all athletes during their time on the Programme.
  • Monitoring and assessing the progress of athletes within the relevant discipline and to keep and maintain all appropriate records using the methods prescribed.
  • Preparing and presenting reports as required by the Head Coach, Performance Director and/or GBCT Senior Leadership Team.
  • Providing direct and/or indirect coaching services and competition support to identified riders at national and international camps/competitions, as agreed with the Head Coach and Performance Director.
