    Are you a motivated and enthusiasticPractice Nurse with experience in Primary Care?

    If you are a Practice Nurse lookingfor an exciting new opportunity within a forward-thinking environment, thenthis may be the role for you.

    We are looking to welcome an experienced, Practice Nurse into our practice to assess, plan,develop, implement and evaluate treatment programmes for our patients. You could be working across the 4 practices we own in close vicinity to one another;

  • Fieldhead Surgery - HD7 4QQ
  • Lockwood Surgery - HD1 3XH
  • Nook Surgery - HD3 3XA
  • Thornton Lodge - HD1 3SB
  • Main duties of the job

    Chronic Disease Management/Long Term Conditions withinthe clinic setting

    Health Promotion

    To collaborate with and enable clients and other membersof the primary health care

    Cervical cytology & teaching breast awareness

    Treatment of minor injuries

    LES/DES/QOF related clinical and administrative work

    Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations

    Travel health advice and vaccinations

    Menopause and HRT consultations

    Smoking Cessation

    Flu, Pneumococcal, Shingles and Pertussis in Pregnancyvaccinations

    Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings

    Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture,swabs

    Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    Cervical cytology & teaching breast awareness

    Wound care / ulcer care Treatment of minor injuries

    Removal of Sutures

    New Patient Medicals / Urinalysis / BP checks

    ECGs

    COPD / Asthma / Peak Flow Readings / Spirometry

    LES/DES/QOF related clinical and administrative work

    Ear irrigation

    Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations

    Travel health advice and vaccinations

    Menopause and HRT consultations

    Smoking Cessation

    Flu, Pneumococcal, Shingles and Pertussis in Pregnancyvaccinations

    Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate whoare being examined by another clinician

    Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings

    Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture,swabs

    Experience in Diabetes / Coronary Heart Disease

    Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPsas appropriate

    Ordering of vaccinations and equipment to maintain stocklevels

    Participation in administrative systems in the Practice

    At all times there will be a need to maintain accuraterecords

    A duty to advise colleagues of potential problems orerrors within the range of assigned tasks

    Attend and participate in any Practice meetings whenrequired

    Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Car driver with clean licence
  • Able to work at the desired times
  • Flexible and able to cover for colleague absence through sickness, annual leave or study leave
  • Experience of primary care
  • Experience and competent in General Treatment Room Duties Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Practice Experience of dealing with the public/patients
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense. Willingness and enthusiasm to developing nursing skills
  • Able to work in a changing environment
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • Registered General Nurse (diploma or degree level)
  • Experience in a Primary Care setting
  • Desirable
