Health and Safety Administrator

Hybrid - home working with site visits when required

£23,000 - £28,500 per annum dependant on experience + benefits

40 hours per week Monday - Friday

BCA are looking for a Health and Safety Administrator to provide dedicated administration support to the BCA UK Health and Safety team.

You will assist the Health and Safety team in ensuring policies and procedures are in place to provide for safe working conditions and the occupational Health and Safety for all people on our sites.


Key Accountabilities

  • Supporting the BCA UK Health and Safety team in embedding a culture centred on maintaining high standards of health and safety across multiple operational sites.
  • Assist and facilitate relevant projects/implementation of policies as and when directed including; sourcing information, fact finding and carrying out research.
  • Administration of online training, ensuring sites are compliant with training requests/requirements.
  • Liaising with external and internal stakeholders and acting as the first point of contact for coordinating and organising supplier, contractor and educational visits to sites.
  • Ensuring all incidents and investigations are logged and recorded on the incident database in a timely manner.
  • Sending reminders to incident reviewing managers and risk owners about upcoming assessments due for review.
  • Ensuring action plans are created for specific assessments, tracking completion of actions to resolve key issues/remedy incidents and highlight upcoming deadlines.
  • Regular monitoring of the risk register to ensure that all updates are recorded correctly.
  • Producing safety and compliance statistics, KPI information and ad hoc statistics as directed.
  • Preparing data for the monthly and quarterly Health & Safety Board meetings.
  • Creation and cascade of Health and Safety information and communications such as Tool Box Talks and policy/process updates.
  • Administration of changes to the BCA UK H&S policy and arrangements manual.
  • Prioritising of administration tasks, recognising when to request additional guidance and support from the Head of Health and Safety or Regional Health and Safety Managers.
  • Engage with teams in UKR, Business Change, Legal, IT Data, Procurement and Marketing, People and Finance as required.
  • Enable close cooperation across all divisions and remove impediments as they appear.
  • Liaise with Health and Safety enforcement agencies as required.

Key Skills

  • Proven track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position at a similar level.
  • Ability to act on own initiative and independently within policies and procedures
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
  • Experience of delivery of objectives within a constantly changing environment.
  • A good level of business writing skills and an ability to communicate effectively face to face and in virtual meetings at all levels.
  • Ability to establish an appropriate course of action to accomplish goals, managing time and resources effectively.
  • A drive for continuous improvement.
