GM Cancer Alliance is expanding the Cancer Academy team.

We are looking to appoint an Education Programme Support Officer to be responsible for providing organised, effective, and proactive programme support functions to the Cancer Academy team, delivery of the GM education principles and flagship Greater Manchester Cancer Conference.

The role will lead discrete pieces of work for the Cancer Academy and Education Collaborative whilst working closely with members of the team to support the delivery of blended learning, such as skills labs, as well the ePortfolio and career frameworks.


The Programme Officer will provide leadership in the oversight of Academy promotional activities and assist the Education Learning Designer in the project progress of Cancer Pathway eLearning development.

The post is 1.0 WTE and is fixed term until March 2024 in the first instance. Secondment requests will be considered.

Greater Manchester Cancer is the cancer programme of the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board.

The GM Cancer Academy is a Programme of work within the Workforce and Education Programme.

The team are dynamic, diligent, and passionate about supporting the cancer workforce to ensure they have equitable access to training and education to develop the right skills to respond to the needs of people affected by cancer, adapt to new, improved ways of working, continue to modernise the way they work, and embrace technology to deliver the best quality healthcare.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting the Cancer Academy team in the delivery of the Greater Manchester Cancer Academy Strategy and GM Education Principles
  • Working closely with the Cancer Academy team & Comms and Engagement team to support the delivery of the flagship Greater Manchester Cancer Conference
  • Supporting the production of programme documentation, including regular project update reports for issue to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Leading discrete pieces of work including, but not limited to, education offers, oversight of Academy marketing and elements of the GM Education Collaborative
  • Supporting the development of policies and standard operating procedures across the programmes of work
  • Supporting the review of project plans to ensure they are updated with milestones, timeframes and outcomes
  • Supporting implementation of tests / pilots in accordance with established project plans
  • Escalating risks as appropriate to the Senior Programme Lead / Education Manager as they arise
  • Producing and maintaining documentation which must be precise, accurate and produced in a timely manner and distributed to all relevant parties
  • Providing feedback to stakeholders, undertaking tasks to resolve issues where appropriate and follow up outstanding issues to ensure speedy resolution
  • Ensuring standard administrative approaches are maintained
  • Asking good questions, analysing data, problem solving and developing solutions in partnership with Programme Leads/Project Leads and stakeholders
  • Recording pertinent minutes and key actions from project meetings, with occasional chairing required
  • Provide line management for the Education & Marketing coordinator

COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT

  • Supervise the Education & Marketing Coordinator to support all communications and engagement activities related to the Cancer Academy
  • Support the team with wider administrative tasks such as organising meetings, dissemination of information and collation of feedback
  • Support the Senior Programme Lead and Education Manger to write reports and papers if required to update the Greater Manchester Cancer Programme Assurance Group, Workforce and Education Board, and Cancer Board on programme developments and to seek approval for recommended action
  • Promote collaboration between partner organisations relevant to the Cancer Academy
  • Build relationships across numerous cancer pathways and trusts to promote the Cancer Academy and build the education programme
