Purpose:


To deliver Club wide People activity, including the more complex ER cases, as directed by the Head of People Services and to proactively support the Senior People Business Partners (SPBPs) and relevant key stakeholders with the delivery of various People responsibilities.

Able to autonomously progress day to day People issues to enable the SPBP to operate at a strategic level for the overall People & Sustainability function.


The Role:


  • To partner SPBPs and key stakeholders to deliver an efficient, high quality, forwardthinking and effective People service to Manchester United Football Club and its subsidiary companies
  • Support SPBPs with efficient and effective delivery of organisational development activity and any relevant key strategic projects
  • Work closely with the Head of Organisational Development to provide additional value to stakeholders as applicable, leading on all cyclical items
  • To maintain active and effective links with a range of stakeholders in the context of operation in a professional Football Club to ensure the People Services provision is innovative in its solutions with associated risks identified and considered
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate approval processes in line with delegated authorities and any associated governance
  • To provide an expert level of employee relations advice and guidance to all levels of staff, ensuring all complex ER activity is completed efficiently and effectively in a fair and consistent approach throughout the Company that is both in line with Club values whilst having the appropriate commercial view at the heart of all advice, guidance and action, thus enabling a clear resolution that minimises both legal and operational risk
  • Proactively support and provide advice and guidance to management on all ER related activity; disciplinary, grievance, performance management, absence management (short and long term) and flexible working requests
  • Have a clear understanding of risk and the unique nature of the context in which we work, accounting for this in any recommendations and advice. Recognise when to raise any concerns to the Head of People Services and relevant SPBP
  • Be a point of contact for People related queries with stakeholders delivering a proactive and flexible service ensuring that all People queries are dealt with promptly, courteously and in a manner that adds value to the operation of the Club
  • Responsible for ensuring the business and relevant stakeholders are up to date and compliant with employment legislation and requirements have detailed and expert knowledge of Employment Law, working closely with the Clubs Employment Law partners where appropriate
  • Creation and maintenance of employment policies, procedure and toolkits to ensure they remain fit for purpose and in line with Club strategy and priorities
  • Work with People Systems & MI Lead to provide analysis and commentary for monthly, quarterly and ad hoc People metric reports for key stakeholders and identify data insights for future changes/improvements
  • Partner with People Systems & MI Lead to alert SPBPs on ER risks by gathering and analysing relevant data
  • Ensure best practice and compliance with all company policies, procedures and legislation, including SOx

The Person:

  • Significant HR experience and be familiar and comfortable working in a high pressure, diverse fast paced organisation
  • Will be a selfdirected problem solver with a creative outlook and the ability to communicate with different stakeholders both internally and externally with proactive confidence, influence and authority
  • An experienced People & ER Advisor with a strong generalist background, comfortable dealing with complex employee relations matters with solid employment law knowledge, an eye for detail, a passion for HR and strong IT and customer service skills
  • An indepth knowledge of employment law and ACAS guidelines relating to the entire employment lifecycle
  • Sound knowledge of current/future employment legislation
  • A strong working knowledge and sound appreciation of right to work and immigration requirements
  • A style that encompasses an ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels is credible and professional in approach, able to influence key stakeholders where necessary
  • Continuously seeks to identify ways to improve with a risk/solutionsbased approach to problem solving
  • Strong planning, time management and organisational skills with an ability to focus on agreed priorities, getting things done efficiently and effectively
  • Proactive mindset and ability to anticipate, address business issues and offer solutions to managers, managing expectations accordingly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical abilities, including a good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience with HRIS solutions (CoreHR/Access
