Executive Officer Inside IR35

Contract Term: 7 Months (possible Extension)

London (or any MoJ Hub), Hybrid


The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background.

Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government's ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.

Professional working in the MoJ help to improve the government's ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent, and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.


As an Executive Officer your main responsibilities would be:

To provide Secretariat support to a number of key governance committees and to the Pensions Board - knowledge of pensions is not essential but would be an advantage, however the critical requirement is knowledge and experience of setting up, managing and providing secretariat support to meetings and Boards which is essential.


  • Drafting and maintaining Terms of Reference
  • Liaising with members to commission papers and reports for meetings chasing and collating as required
  • Drafting agendas using Teams and producing an agenda pack within Teams containing meeting document
  • Planning meetings
  • Attending meetings and taking notes and minuting meetings
  • Maintaining and updating an Actions Log


  • Planning and scheduling

  • Ensure systems are in place to enable effective planning and scheduling.


  • Administration

  • Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently.
  • Secretariat duties including minute taking and project board support.
  • Risks and Issues assisting identifying potential risk areas, working with risk manager and escalating as appropriate.


  • Governance

  • Ensure compliance and delivery regarding Governance e.g. Terms of Reference,
  • Upkeep of membership lists etc

You'll have relevant experience in:


  • Excellent interpersonal skills including liaising with senior staff and Board members
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent use of time management and planning ahead
  • Experience of organising and managing Board and other meetings.
  • Experience of successfully supporting meetings and working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver results within fixed timeframes with limited resource.
  • Experience of establishing processes and working to deadlines.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office tools especially Teams.
  • Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas._
