What it's like being a Laboratory Technician Apprentice


Your role as a Laboratory Technician Appentice is to support the team in providing materials and resources for staff, to enable the delivery of the curriculum, in a safe, timely and flexible manner.

Duties within this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Science Technician as directed on matters of a practical nature, for example getting equipment out / putting it away.
  • Carrying out record keeping, and stock control duties.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures, in association with other colleagues and managers.
  • Maintaining Health & Safety Records and undertaking safety checks as directed.


The Advanced Level Apprenticeship (Level 3 Laboratory Technician) provides individuals with a sound knowledge base that can support them in undertaking further learning and development of their careers.

We are looking to appoint an Apprentice Science Technician for our UTC Sheffield City Centre site, who will work with our experienced Science Technician and supportive wider science team to develop their skills and knowledge.
