    Job summary

    We have an exciting full-time opportunity to join our expanding Cardiologydepartment at Worcester Royal Hospital. We are looking for motivated cardiacphysiologist to join our team who is competent in a range of non-invasive andinvasive diagnostic tests. The role would include participation in the on-callPPCI rota.

    There will the opportunity to develop skills in the area ofEchocardiography, complex CRM including electrophysiology. We deliver highquality training and support growth for our team to work towards professionalaccreditation. Our aim is always to provide an excellent, patient focusedservice whilst supporting our staff needs.

    Main duties of the job

    Undertake a Specialised Physiologists role in the invasive PCI servicebased in the Cardiac Catheter lab. Perform unsupervised monitoring of cardiachaemodynamic, invasive intra-cardiac pressures on clinically high risk Cardiacpatients. Alerting Physician immediately of any changes in parameters.Including preparation and management of balloon pump equipment for insertion ofintra-aortic balloon.

    Perform as lead Physiologist in Cardiac Physiologist led ExerciseTolerance Tests. Without supervision, analyse and report results in accordancewith national and departmental protocols and procedures.

    Provide Physiologist support during complex devices/permanent pacemakerand implantable loops implants. Analyse complex data and recognise when tore-programme appropriate parameters as per manufacturer and departmentalpolicies and protocols for individual patients at device/pacemaker follow upclinics.

    Prepare, hook up, remove, download, analyse the recordings, providingwritten reports on 24 hr Ambulatory ECG recorders, Blood Pressure recorders andCardiac Event recorders, according to the departmental protocols.

    Electrocardiograms on all categories of patients within the trust.Interpret the results and inform the relevant Physician of any adverseabnormalities, as per the departmental protocol and procedure.

    Responsible for setting upequipment, preparing and carrying out Tilt table testing for medically andPhysiologist supervised investigations

    Job responsibilities

    Undertake a SpecialisedPhysiologists role in the invasive PCI service based in the Cardiac Catheterlab.     Designated responsibility toperform Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation on patients in anemergency situation.

    Perform as lead Physiologist in Cardiac Physiologist led ExerciseTolerance Tests. (ETTs) Without supervision, analyse and report the results ofthe procedure, in accordance with national and departmental protocols andprocedures.

    Provide Physiologist supportduring Medically supervised ETTs andnuclear/chemical ETTs

    ProvidePhysiologist support during complex devices/permanent pacemaker and implantableloops implants. Analyse complex data and recognisewhen to re-programme appropriate parameters as per manufacturer anddepartmental policies and protocols forindividual patients at device/pacemaker follow up clinics.

    Perform Electrocardiograms on allcategories of patients within the trust. Interpret the results and inform therelevant Physician of any adverse abnormalities, as per the departmentalprotocol and procedure.

    Develop skills in chosen specialist area CRM+/- Electrophysiology or Echo and work towards accreditation in this area

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent
  • Must be prepared to attend training courses appropriate to post
  • Desirable

  • BSE accreditation (working towards)
  • BHRS / EHRA / IBHRE Accreditation (working towards)
  • SCST (parts 1 & 2) or equivalent
  • Current ILS certification.
  • Voluntary Registration for RCCP
