Role description:


The Resilience team is recruiting for a Planner to join us and provide planning support, guidance and leadership for our clients and internal teams.

As a Planner in Resilience, you should have the capability and confidence to add value at all stages of a project or programme lifecycle - from front-end strategic planning to detailed schedule development and control.


Role accountabilities:

  • Topdown strategic planning of project and programmes, working with teams to facilitate the definition of scope, breakdown structures, methodologies, dependencies, interfaces and risks.
  • Implement planning and scheduling protocols in line with industry best practice, Arcadis standards and client requirements.
  • Schedule development, from initial highlevel activity networks to structured, detailed and resourced working schedules covering full project lifecycles. Similarly providing assurance of thirdparty project schedules to ensure compliance and fitness for purpose.
  • Establish approved baseline schedules and implement schedule performance monitoring and reporting, with controlled change management and clear communication to teams, clients and stakeholders of progress status and remaining works.
  • Provide valued and focused insight on schedule performance, going beyond checks and calculations, to ensure the project teams know and understand what they need to, are equipped to make informed decisions and are aware of any schedule risks and opportunities.
  • Take a proactive approach to crossdiscipline engagement and collaboration to identify and resolve issues and facilitate team success.
  • Engage with internal and client stakeholders at a working and management level to develop positive relationships and provide relevant, concise information.
  • Use project plans and schedules to define and manage programme level interdependencies, constraints and interfaces. Take ownership for the communication and coordination of these items and facilitate a collaborative approach between project teams.
  • Plan and monitor capacity and resource requirements within schedules and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage the schedule change control process, recording change history for audit purposes and all relevant business authorisations.
  • Undertake schedule risk analysis, working with teams to identify risks and opportunities, assess likelihood and impacts and develop mitigations.
  • Awareness of, and adherence to, contractual procedures relating to contract schedules (i.e. NEC 3 Accepted Programme) and delays. Preparation and assessment of extension of time claims.
  • Supervision and development of junior planning colleagues.
  • Active participation and contribution to communities and initiatives across the project and programme management service line and the wider Arcadis business.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Understanding and experience of the principles of project / programme management, design, engineering and construction.
  • Prior experience as a Project Planner or Planner in a relevant industry sector. Utilities experience is desirable (but not essential).
  • Prior experience with a contractor organisation is desirable (but not essential).
  • Strong IT skills:
  • Practitioner / advanced capability and experience in P6 (preferred), Asta or MS Project.
  • Practitioner / advanced capability and experience in Excel.
  • Comprehensive general skills across Office 36
  • Further skills and experience of BIM and data visualisation / analytical tools is desirable.
  • Experience of preparing and presenting planning and scheduling outputs for varied audiences.
  • Confidence and acumen when speaking to project teams, clients and stakeholders. Ability to facilitate discussions between different disciplines, teams and parties.
  • Working knowledge and experience of construction contracts (NEC 3 is preferable).
  • Knowledge and experience of any planning and project controls methodologies is desirable (i.e., collaborative planning, EVM, shortterm plann
