    About the Role

    We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Early Years, Inclusion and Childcare service as Early Years SEND Manager. The post of Early Years SEND Manager will allow you the opportunity to join and lead a highly skilled, enthusiastic team. We work with children from birth to school entry who have identified additional needs. You will lead and organise a team that works with children both in their homes and in early years provision.

    Alongside this you will work closely with the service manager to ensure children have the right support at the right time and ensure children access the highest quality inclusive provision in their local mainstream provision. You will have the opportunity to work in partnership with other services in the department including health to ensure children reach their full potential.

    The service supports children who are at risk of exclusion and have a successful relationship with schools and settings ensuring children maintain their placements. We also support our youngest children through our Portage Practitioners.

    About You

    To apply for this post, you must:

  • To be qualified teacher status with evidence of further training leading to specialist qualification in working with SEND and leadership and management experience in early years or SEND
  • To lead on quality improvement by securing information, guidance, advice and training to meet the needs of providers, parents and carers, schools and other professionals by having an excellent understanding Early Years agenda, EYFS, SEND and pedagogical issues, including, the latest inspection and research findings
  • To champion the needs of children, particularly the most disadvantaged, ensuring that children and their families are able to access high quality early education and childcare
  • Understanding of uses of data analysis to monitor progress and standards at setting and Local Authority level and highlight areas for setting development.
  • To line manage the SEND teachers and practitioners providing leadership and guidance and support, develop and motivate both individuals and teams to meet objective
  • To promote equality and inclusion, particularly for disadvantaged families, looked after children, children in need and children with disabilities or special educational needs by removing barriers of access to early education
  • Understanding of issues relating to progression from early years to reception and how the process of transition can be supported for young children
