    Job summary

    30 Kingsway Surgery is an EMIS web forward thinking practice, in search of an enthusiastic and committed Practice Nurse to join our small & friendly team. The role is a permanent position offering hours per week over 3/4 days. Its a part time or job sharing position. The successful candidate(s) will need to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational skills, be a great team player and be able to work independently.

    Applicants need to be NMC registered, professional, friendly, reliable and punctual. You will work under pressure, attend educational updates, maintain your NMC registration and work closely with the district nursing team, medicines management team and other community services to provide the best healthcare for our patients.

    Main duties of the job

    Main duties of the role include but is not exhaustive:

    Chronic disease management (asthma/COPD/diabetes/hypertension)

    Childhood immunisations & nasal flu vaccines

    Cervical cytology testing

    Travel vaccinations & advice

    Blood pressure checks

    Various health checks

    Influenza, B12, shingles & other vaccinations

    Learning disability reviews

    About us

    30 Kingsway Surgery has a small, supportive, friendly team of clinicians & admin team.

    Consisting of 2 GP Partners, an ANP, a Practice Nurse, a HCA and GP Registrars. (The surgery is an approved GP Training Practice)

    And within our reception & admin team we have 6 reception staff, 2 admin staff, an APM and a PM.

    Job responsibilities

    Main duties &responsibilities

    Providingadvice, consultation and information about a range of health conditions andminor ailments, referring to other members of the practice team as necessary;

    Performinginvestigatory procedures taking urine samples, other specimens and swabs;

    Conductingfirst-registration checks

    Chronic Disease Management

    Givingcontraceptive advice

    Offeringcervical smear & auditing

    Offeringspecialist information and advice in areas such as blood pressure, weightcontrol, smoking cessation, heart conditions, etc.

    Administeringinfant injections and vaccinations

    Administeringtravel immunisations and offering travel health care advice

    Offeringfirst aid and emergency treatment, as required

    Advisingpatients in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs

    Re-stockingand maintaining clinical areas and consulting rooms and equipment, emergencydrug stocking & maintenance.

    Takingaccurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments and recordingthese in patients' notes

    Updating/amendingthe clinical computer system with details of patient and treatments, use oftemplates and consultations

    Liaisingwith other practice nurses, GPs, reception, office staff and Practice Manager.

    Attend and participate inpractice meetings as required.

    Assist in the formulation ofpractice philosophy, strategy and policy and develop appropriate protocols.

    Activeparticipation in risk management

    Acceptclinical governance responsibilities and information governance.

    Responsible for infection control & cold chain systems, vaccines & storage

  • Registration General Nurse (diploma or degree level)
