Lifeguard Position at Summer Camp in Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Hours: 09:00 – 16:30

Salary: £529.53 per week with variations based on age, experience, and qualifications

MAIN LIFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

• Adhere to the swimming pool file procedures
• Conduct daily inspections of water, signs, and flotation devices
• Provide safety guidelines to swimmers at each session and ensure compliance
• Supervise non-lifeguard staff during swimming sessions
• Administer and oversee swim tests at the camp
• Maintain detailed records of swim tests and flotation devices on a daily and weekly basis
• Maintain appropriate staff and lifeguard levels based on number of swimmers
• Quickly identify emergencies and follow correct protocols
• Keep the pool securely locked when not in use
• Anticipate and prevent accidents
• Ensure pool cleanliness and proper equipment storage

REQUIREMENTS

Valid NPLQ certification from RLSS, STA, or HABC with the ability to provide the original certificate

• Pass the Barracudas Lifeguard Competency Assessment (LCA)
• Demonstrate alertness, physical fitness, and good senses
• Minimum age of 18 upon contract start date
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Provide professional/academic references, including ideally one from a previous lifeguarding role
• Complete or possess an enhanced DBS check
• Participate in a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas
• Engage in annual online training sessions
• Attend the mandatory Induction Training Day before camp commences

During the Induction Training Day, Lifeguards will review the Swimming Pool file to understand pool specifics and lifeguarding duties. Failure to review the file prior to assuming lifeguard duties is not permitted.

• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards
• Organize age-appropriate activities for campers within your expertise
• Encourage children to participate in activities as scheduled
• Promote safe behavior and interact positively with children daily
• Follow camp procedures diligently, including registration and safety protocols
• Serve as a positive role model by emphasizing healthy habits and child welfare
• Report any child protection concerns to the appropriate authorities
• Accommodate children with special needs or medical conditions
• Prioritize children's well-being and safety
• Maintain equipment safety during sessions
• Expect varied duties as required by your role and organizational objectives
