This role has a staring salary of £29,291 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Surrey County Councils Estate Team as a
Trainee Surveyor. Are you looking for a new opportunity to develop your career in Land & Property department working alongside enthusiastic professionals who want to make a difference?

Surrey County Council maintains an operational property portfolio of 2000 buildings, providing key services to the residents of Surrey.

This is a wide ranging and fascinating estate, ranging from fire stations to offices, adult social care facilities to schools, farmland to libraries.


Reporting to our Residential Portfolio Manager, as part of the Estates Team, you will be involved in providing administrative assistance to our Estates team.

You will also undertake estates related tasks such as title searches, boundary disputes and general enquiries. With appropriate support you will also undertake the granting and renewal of licences, leases and other property agreements.


You will assist in the provision of property income generation and revenue savings with responsibility for managing specific technical inputs to projects.

The role also involves assisting in monitoring budgets, ensuring that data is up to date and that relevant parties have up to date data.

The team currently operates from our Woodhatch office in Reigate but with full flexible working arrangements.

Staff will be expected to operate in a flexible way to meet the needs of our customers and work demands, using agile working methods that allow business to be conducted from multiple locations.


  • Knowledge of property issues/ types of projects and the acquisition and disposal process including legal issues associated with the same.
  • Knowledge of various budget types and understanding of monitoring of budgets and variances.
  • Significant understanding and experience of customer service and engagement methodologies.
