We have an opportunity for you to work in a high performing comprehensive school located in central Essex.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious English teacher, with a commitment to continuing professional development, to join our highly successful and innovative English faculty. English G.C.S.E. results are consistently in the top 20% of all schools nationally. The successful candidate will be required to teach English up to and including G.C.S.E. A level teaching may also be possible. The post is suitable for either an ECT or a more experienced teacher.This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and is not suitable for anyone who has been barred in any way from working with children.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning, Teaching and Class Management:

Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained, and best use is made of teaching time.
Plan lesson and sequences of lessons to meet pupils' individual learning needs and plan effectively to ensure that pupils have the opportunity to meet their potential, taking account of the needs of pupils who are: Understanding, very able
Secure a high standard of pupil behaviour in the classroom, through establishing appropriate rules and high expectations of discipline which pupils respect and use a range of appropriate strategies for teaching and classroom management.
Identify pupils who have special educational needs, and know where to get help in order to give positive and targeted support. Plan effectively, where applicable, to meet the needs of those pupils with special educational needs and prepare, implement, monitor and review individual education plans.
Design and adapt long, medium and short term plans for all schemes of work taught.
