    Default job background
    Description

Hedge Fund Middle Office Executive, Mayfair, London

To £70,000 basic salary, plus bonus and employee benefits

    The Opportunity:

    • My client is an ambitious, meritocratic and entrepreneurial hedge fund
    • The fund strategy is an adventurous Relative Value Strategy, with the goal to increase the already significant AuM by 300% over the next 24 months
    • Launched several years ago, the success and ambition of the firm has led to the need to add an additional headcount to their middle office, supporting directly two of the Founders of the firm (including the COO)
    • The desire to invest in more illiquid securities has increased the complexity of the middle office oversight process. This is where this role will largely be focused, thereby adding significant value to the smooth running of the fund
    • A lot of your time will be focused on supporting the trading of illiquid asset classes including loans, along with total return swaps (TRS) and Reorganization Equity. More liquid asset classes will include credit, corporate bonds, CDS, short selling of equities
    • Day to day duties will be varied and no two days the same. However, there will be an emphasis on reconciling both complex stock and cash positions, liaising with and ensuring third party vendors (Prime Brokers; Investment Banks; Hedge Fund Administrators; Risk Advisory Consultants), ensuring that SLAs and KPIs are adhered to and all issues are resolved in a timely manner, however complicated
    • Assist with the daily cutting of the shadow NAV
    • Proactive monitoring of all Corporate Action Events across illiquid positions
    • Support the Head of Operations and COO with a range of ad-hoc and project based initiatives
    • The ambition of this firm and the quality of the leadership will ensure that for the right person this role will represent a true career focused opportunity

    Your Experience:

    • You will have a strong record of academic achievement, combined with a confidence with "numbers" and be able to apply a logical mindset to your work
    • It is likely that you will have completed or be studying for relevant professional qualifications including the IMC, CAIA etc., and be looking to advance your career through personal and professional development
    • In terms of experience, you must have middle office operations experience from either the buy or sell side, and experience of working with illiquid loans, most likely from the secondary market. An understanding of loan mechanics is key
    • First-hand knowledge of the electronic settlement process via the ClearPar platform would be highly advantageous
    • Possess an inquisitive mindset and be able to work independently where required
    • Demonstrate a "can-do" attitude, along with a tenacity to ensure all trading and settlement deadlines are met – think "iron fist in a velvet glove" The complexity of the illiquid trades makes the oversight of the third party vendors a challenge
