    An outstanding Senior Programme Manager (NPI / NPD) permanent position has arisen with a top tier Defense / Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering organisation based in West London / Middlesex.

    The Senior Programme Manager is a pivotal role in respect of assigned projects with specific responsibility for providing the control and co-ordination of agreed programmes of work and for reporting on the progress of technical, engineering and associated activities of assigned projects such that they are managed, administered and completed in accordance with contract. You will oversee and guide the work of administrative and technical colleagues assigned to specific projects.

    Hybrid position: 2 days homeworking

    Responsibilities

    • Establish the Project Plans by creating and maintaining project outlines and individual work assignments within the programme of work are clearly identified with projected dates for completion.
    • Achievement of objectives/milestones can be monitored with early identification of delay on any aspect of the project.
    • Develop and maintain a risk register in respect of assigned projects such that foreseeable problems/delays are identified, mitigation/fallback plans are available, and that delays in project completion are minimised.
    • Monitor and control the cost of assigned projects so that customers are invoiced in accordance with agreed commercial/contractual arrangements; and that expenditure exceeding budget is identified and authorised as necessary.
    • Coordinate the development of test and evaluation programmes by identifying hardware and resource demand, provisioning hardware and providing programmatic guidance and support.
    • Communicate and co-ordinate the flow of data and relevant information between all parties including design/test/manufacturing and customers so that information is circulated effectively and efficiently, without unnecessary delay and in accordance with contractual arrangements as and when these apply.
    • Produce progress reports for management and/or customers and if required present same at formal update meetings so that Project progress is formally recorded and discussed.
    • Liaise with subcontractors ensuring that they are in receipt of technical and schedule information.
    • Assist and support preparation of commercial proposal submissions so that realistic costs and time frames are reflected within commercial contracts.

    Skills & experience

    • Proven project management (5 years +) experience focused on NPI / NPD.
    • Knowledge of mechanical engineering sector (MOD / Defense / Aerospace / Aircraft / Automotive etc)
    • Broad project management experience underpinned by a thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering disciplines (design/test/manufacturing).
    • Extensive experience of presentation design, development and delivery including customer facing.
    • Some experience of multi-faceted, externally facing negotiations.
    • Thorough planning, organising and administration/project management skill; proficient in MS Office (Excel and Project).
