As a Building Surveyor based at our offices in Blenheim Park, your advice will be crucial for the successful design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of a wide property portfolio.
The team actively works in the retail, logistics, office, healthcare, life science, research, education, government, defence, and residential sectors providing the opportunity for plenty of workload variety.
Current clients include the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Thames Valley Police, Open University, several Oxford Colleges, University of Oxford, Oxford City Council, Oxford County Council, Oxford gene Technology, Oxford Biomedica, John Lewis Waitrose, Oxfam, Heyford Park and the Lloyds Banking Group.
Depending on aptitude and growth in the above sectors workload may be split between existing government commissions and other building surveying duties.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Carry out building, condition, and measured surveys
- Taking particulars on site, attending meetings, writing up specifications, obtaining estimates, planning maintenance programmes, and administering contracts for maintenance work
- Analyse and report on building defects
- Handling claims and negotiations with loss adjusters leading to the preparation of drawings and specifications for remedial work
- Prepare schedules of dilapidations (land and buildings)
- Prepare Notices, Schedules of Condition and Awards for Party Wall matters
- Maintain and enhance existing relationships with contractors and clients
Experience and Skills Required:
- Degree qualified RICS or CIOB approved. Other qualifications maybe considered
- Some experience in a similar role
- Experience of working with protectively marked information
- Exceptionally strong record keeping, attention to detail, interpersonal skills
- Experience of using AutoCAD to prepare basic drawings and sketches
- Ability to work flexibly to the demands of the business as needed. Client first attitude
As a Building Surveyor at Ridge and Partners you will need to demonstrate the desire, drive, and a real enthusiasm to becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor which will be fully supported by the company (the national Ridge APC support process) and the Oxford Team.
