    Job Description

    Principal Purpose

    Within this role you will be supporting the Applications function in maintaining effective and efficient applications to support Wilsonart business operations in the UK. You will drive continuous improvement by assessing where changes are needed to ensure stability of the systems. Work with a software development cycle that delivers controlled change. This role would be suited to a junior or job entry level individual, looking to get experience and an initial foot on the career ladder.

    Principal Elements

    • Apply software engineering principles to analyse and problem solve when designing solutions
    • Creating technical specifications
    • Design and develop test cases
    • Providing 1st/2nd line support for UK ERP systems.
    • Supporting the development of the ERP systems and related business applications across all UK sites.
    • Assisting in IT Department Projects.
    • Understand & follow escalation protocols for driving service excellence.

    Experience and Competencies:

    The successful applicant must have:

    • Experience of DevOps processes
    • Knowledge of coding scripts C#, LINQ, SQL
    • A detailed understanding of the software development life-cycle.
    • Written both functional and technical specifications for system enhancements.
    • The ability to design and implement software testing scenarios.
    • The ability to operate in a matrix structure.
    • Working in an international, virtual environment where colleagues are located across various environments.
    • Have an appreciation of Continuous Improvement
    • Ability to contribute to IT projects
    • Experience with Epicor Kinetic is desirable
    • Experience with building APIs using REST, JSON etc would be advantageous

    Person Specification:

    • A highly focused attention to detail.
    • Clear, concise and professional communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Excellent customer relationship management skills.
    • Skilled in communicating and training IT topics to non-experts.
    • Strong inter-personal & influencing skills.
    • Proven ability to develop and enhance business applications in a professional and flexible manner, whilst considering broader agendas and strategic needs.

    Location

    The role is based at Shildon.

    Please note you will be required to work on site for 3 days minimum. This is non negotiable.

    Performance Measures

    Annual appraisals to be undertaken by the UK Applications Team Leader and objectives set for the forthcoming year.
