Description

The post holder will see patients that have been triaged by the medical/ED consultant from assessment and referred from ED, GP's, NIAS, Outpatients, and other specialist teams. Patients will be rapidly assessed, diagnosed and have a management treatment plan prescribed and implemented with a view to discharging home.

Provision of primary medical care to ambulant patients with a wide variety of conditions streamed from range of sources outlined above.

Provide a high standard of evidence based compassionate care to patients in the Direct Assessment Unit.

Preparation of such correspondence reports and other documents as may be necessary during the performance of the above duties.

To provide initial assessment, medical review and appropriate investigation & diagnostics in an appropriate timeframe. These timeframes will be similar to those in the ED. This will lead to improving the patient experience.

Work in collaboration with other specialties to develop pathways that will improve and expedite the patient's journey.

Teaching undergraduates, nursing staff and colleagues.

Liaise with social services, inpatient specialties, primary care and AHP's to provide a high standard of care to patients in DAU.

A commitment to secretarial support and an adequately equipped office, including information technology (IT) facilities.
