The Active Wellbeing Society is a community benefit society and cooperative working to develop healthy, happy communities living active and connected lives.

Our vision is for a society where people have the autonomy, capacity, resources and skills to become the architects of their own destiny; where our individual wellbeing is recognised as being bound up in our collective responsibility to and dependency on each other; and where all of us feel empowered as agents of social change to make a difference - whether at an individual level or more widely.

By working collaboratively with communities, we aim to bring about sustainable change on an social, environmental and economic level; to do the social knitting required to create stronger and more resilient communities and to support communities to identify, mitigate and remove the barriers that prevent them from living active and connected lives.

Grow and Connect is a newly formed team, sowing the seeds for a brighter future.

We are busy developing streams of work across Birmingham that seek to connect people to green spaces and inspire and motivate people to enjoy the benefits of nature.

The roleinvolves supporting various projects as they develop; there will be opportunities to work alongside members of the team to support the public and referred clients with landscaping, planting, composting and general horticultural work, nature-based crafts and enjoying time in the outdoors.

Future plans, include setting up mini-workshops (such as seed planting & composting workshops) and growing sessions for members of the community.

We'd love for you to bring ideas and your own expertise to these.

This is a well rounded job opportunity that will encourage growth and learning via a range of methods. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain valuable experience of working alongside communities.
