A not for profit organisation providing services to the health sector situated in Newcastle city centre are looking to appoint a Finance Assistant to their team.

Working full-time in the office (hybrid after probation 3/2 days) you will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and provision of a comprehensive and accurate financial management information and business support service.


In this role you will work closely with service users and commercial partners, ensuring that accurate delivery of financial information and advice is provided with equal access, and to the Charity and the Department of Health's targets.


Your work will involve:

  • The production of detailed monthly financial reports and forecasts analysis and production of monthly analysis reports
  • Setting and maintaining budgets and reserves with the Finance Director and CEO
  • Assisting with the financial monthly close and production of board reports
  • Commentary of the monthly breakdown of financial management of catering and facilities including travel and accommodation
  • Processing and payment of expense claims
  • Annual resubscription invoicing
  • Issuing invoices
  • Management of new customers and suppliers accounts
  • Allocating account references and incoming and outgoing payments
  • Nominal coding, petty cash, purchase ledger and VAT returns.


All accounting is operated on Xero and Excel so it would be preferred if the successful applicant was a confident user.


The successful applicant will possess a strong knowledge of financial and accountancy principles and standards through significant practical experience working in a finance function and in addition with their AAT Level 3/4 qualification or equivalent.

You will be experienced with purchase and sales ledger processing, planning and managing budgets and bank reconciliations.


We are looking for a confident, social team player who works well with others and is able to communicate both written and verbally to a high standard.

Applicants must have relevant UK experience and be eligible to work in the UK.
