    The Special Steel Group is located in Sheffield and is one of the most successful steel and engineering businesses in the country, and a recipient of the Queens Award for Enterprise.

    The Group consists of 6 independently operational businesses covering multiple disciplines including forging, heat treatment, testing, machining, and global distribution of advanced nickel-based alloys & special steels.

    Our customer base has expanded and diversified significantly in the last few years, and we are keen to ensure our quality department is fully resourced to support this wider portfolio of prime and third-party quality approvals necessary to operate at these prominent levels.

    Consequently, a full-time opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to join the Group quality department based at our HQ in Sheffield.

    The role is full time, office-based working 5 days, Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.

    with interaction across all our Sheffield sites - so we offer plenty of variety through the working day The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Quality Manager to ensure our wider quality activities are unified throughout the Group, whilst having their own portfolio of Group companies to oversee.

    Working with the Group Quality Manager to maintain our range of QMS approvals, providing support when adopting further approvals.

    • Working alongside the wider company Quality and Technical departments to undertake problem solving activities/events using 8D/5W techniques.
    • GCSE's or 'A' Level Qualification/s including English, Mathematics and Science.
    • NVQ/Certificate/Diploma in Quality Management or similar (Preferred).
    • Skilled using a computer and be familiar using Microsoft Word and Excel packages.
    • Flexible attitude with multitasking skills.
    • The salary will depend on experience and so open to discussion, but in the region of £30,000 to £40,000. Other usual benefits apply, with on site parking, pension contributions and financial support for further academic study in an associated field to develop your career.
