Porters Lodge Officer, to join our team.

  • Reporting to the Porters Lodge Manager, you be the first point of contact providing a warm welcome for all visitors to Bletchley Park.

You will be responsible for monitoring entry to the site, offering advice and directions where appropriate and communicate the presence of business visitors to their hosts.

You will also provide cover for the Porters Lodge, as needed to welcome visitors andmaintain records as appropriate, assisting with mail receipt and delivery, in an organised and prompt manner.

This position will work as part of a team with shared responsibilities and a focus on excellent customer service at all times.

Most work will be outdoors and will include some manual duties and the lifting / carrying of heavy items.
This is a uniformed position, and a smart appearance is required.

As a Porters Lodge Officer at Bletchley Park, your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding the needs of all visitors and their associated entry requirements, directing them in accordance with current practices.
  • Ensuring the traffic flow at the entry to the park is managed in a controlled and coordinated manner to avoid unnecessary delays, holdups or queues.
  • Immediately reporting any suspicious or security threatening circumstances to the Duty Manager or higher.
  • Receiving and, where appropriate, signing for all mail and parcel deliveries to Bletchley Park, including logging all courier and special deliveries received.
  • Distributing all incoming mail and packages around the site and collecting, logging and handling all outgoing packages in accordance with current practices.
  • Issuing, recording and maintaining security and car parking passes in accordance with current practice.
  • Welcoming and announcing visitors of the Trust.

We are looking for a Porters Lodge Officer who has the following skills and experiences:

  • Experience of security, entry procedures and relevant health and safety issues.
  • Experience of mail procedures and customer service environments.
  • A full clean driving license.
  • First aid at work qualification.


This Officer position is
full time and will require you work
72.5 hours per fortnight, Monday to Fridayon a rotating schedule of 33 hours one week and 39.5 hours the next including working weekends.Occasionally extra hours will be required, and these will be paid at basic rate.

In return, the Porters Lodge Officer at Bletchley Park will receive a salary of £21,375.90 per annum.
Benefits include 33 days holiday per annum pro rata, including statutory holidays, company pension scheme, death-in-service and healthcare cash-plan.
