    Summary of the Environmental & Sustainability Manager role

    As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager you will report directly to the EHS Director based at our site in Cramlington, Northumberland.

    As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager you will be responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of the environmental management system (EMS), and providing technical input and leadership in all aspects of impact assessment, energy management, sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility objectives.

    Overseeing compliance with agreements and consents for the discharge of trade effluents from Biological Treatment plants on the basis of pollutant load, treatability, toxicity and environmental risk assessment.

    Overseeing waste management compliance and working closely with the site waste function in terms of classification, packaging and disposal of waste streams.

    Overseeing energy regulation compliance and driving energy efficiency and improvement with other departments.
    Continuously improving and managing the environmental management systems to support business operations and strategy.
    Developing environmental objectives as part of the overall company HSE strategy and tracking performance indicators to drive improvement.
    Promoting sustainability, CSR and ESG.
    Contributing to the development and delivery of training on environmental issues.
    Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline e.g. chemical/process engineering/chemistry (chartered membership of a relevant institution desirable).
    Environmental qualifications desirable e.g. NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma.
    Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing/production environment, ideally with experience in a technical, chemical manufacturing or engineering role.

    Sound knowledge of current and future Environmental legislation with the ability to manage and lead on specific technical aspects of Environmental Assessment.
