Salary:
Watch Manager B (Grey Book) £39,974, Grade 8 (Green Book) £37,261 - £40,478 per annum


Working Hours:
Watch Manager 42 hours per week (Day duty system*), Green Book 37 hours per week.


Location:
Service Headquarters - Kelvedon Park
- as an operational employee, you will be required to maintain your operational competence, support availability and work from various stations across the county, in line with our Day-Duty Officers Riding (DDOR) principles.

The Role
As the Protection department for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) we are passionate about fire safety.

As the NFCC & Quality Assurance Officer you will support the NFCC & Quality Assurance Manager in building and maintaining positive working relationships with other Fire and Rescue Services, National Fire Chiefs Council and key stakeholders to ensure ECFRS remains aware of all national developments within fire protection.


You will also be responsible for the internal quality assurance (QA) of the Services auditing officers and operational based colleagues, along with the effective delivery of a QA programme for the Protection department.


What You Will Be Working On


Assisting in the day-to-day management and activities of the Protection department, whilst supporting the NFCC & QA Manager in ensuring that the department is fully aligned with the NFCC Protection framework.


Representing the Service at NFCC/Protection Policy Reform Unit (PPRU) meetings and events to gain and share best practise and promote cohesive ways of working.

Reviewing initial professional development (IPD) and continual professional development (CPD) records of Fire Safety Regulators. To ensure that organisational policies, procedures, and standards in relation to QA are of an appropriate standard.


Providing support for Fire Inspecting Officers during their development, providing supervision and mentoring to ensure that organisational standards are being maintained.


Supporting the NFCC & QA Manager in the provision of reports providing assurances to the Service Leadership Team and PFCC on the compliance of the Protection department with all assigned recommendations from the Grenfell enquiry and all other national initiatives.


What Are We Looking For?


This role will be perfect for you if you are a passionate fire safety professional who is motivated by what you can bring to ECFRS and the people of Essex.

You will have experience in working methodically, paying attention to detail and responding to changes to meet deadlines.


We would love to find someone that has strong interpersonal skills and experience of building constructive and effective working relationships.


Eligibility

  • You must have a relevant Level 4 qualification: a Level 4 diploma in Fire Safety and/or Level 4 training education qualification such as CTLLS or CET or be nearing completion of the qualification.
  • Experience of working with NFCC and other FRS this is desirable.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Substantive Watch Manager who has been competent in role for a minimum of twelve months.
  • Successfully completed all relevant operational assessments and compulsory courses and are competent for your current role.
  • You must have a valid and current FiTech of 37 ml/kg/min or be actively engaged in a programme of fitness.
