Lymphoedema Specialist Practitioner - Band 7

£49,178 - £55,492 Inc HCAS per annum pro rata

Full time hours per week


We are looking for an experienced Lymphoedema specialist practitioner to join our supportive and friendly team to provide care for patients with lymphoedema across the borough of Bromley.

We have increased the mileage rate from 56p to 61p and have removed the 3,500 mileage reimbursement ceiling.

We are looking for an experienced Lymphoedema Specialist Practitioner with a high degree of motivation and clinical skills.


The post holder will be up to date with current best practices and demonstrate Bromley Healthcare values in their day-to-day role working as part of a team.

We value health promotion through patient empowerment and education, therefore we require a specialist practitioner who has excellent communication and assessment skills.


Although based in a clinic setting, the role is across Bromley Healthcare area and outreach to support Community colleagues may be required.

We encourage team members to take part in various CPD activities including clinical supervision and in-house training in addition to external training sessions.


Bromley Healthcare is a community interest company providing a wide range of services including community nursing services such as district nursing, health visiting, specialist nurses, as well as therapy services for children, young people and adults.

Salary is dependant on NHS experience and current banding/pay point.


CLINICAL

  • Work as an independent practitioner and demonstrate clinical expertise.
  • Act as an expert resource and role model, providing clinical advice and support to others involved in providing care for people with lymphoedema issues.
  • Practice advanced clinical skills and maintain a high professional standard of care and expertise.
  • Support healthcare professionals to communicate and support patients in understanding and managing their conditions which may at times be challenging with the realisation that many issues can influence the outcome of their skin integrity and lymphoedema.
  • Use knowledge and skills to empower patients to selfcare and make informed choices about their care.
  • To influence and implement changes to clinical practice.
  • Support the Service Lead with overarching caseload management.
  • Keep updated with developments in Lymphoedema Nationally and cascade knowledge within BHC.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Facilitate the creation of a positive learning environment in the workplace where staff development is encouraged and supported.
  • Supporting the induction of new staff and competency assessment.
  • Working with the Service Lead to identify training needs for the service and beyond.
  • To prepare and provide formal and informal teaching, supervising and facilitating the learning of students, nurses, and other health care professionals.
  • Support opportunities for other health care professionals to shadow the Lymphoedema Service, encouraging greater awareness, improved communication, increased knowledge and appropriate use of the service.
MANAGEMENT, ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To act as an accountable role model through the provision of professional leadership and demonstration of competent practice.
  • To perform delegated line management duties and support and deputize for the Service Lead where required.
  • To chair and represent meetings in the Service Leads absence.
  • To chair and develop Link group meetings in relation to Lymphoedema when relevant.
  • To work with the Service Lead to deliver on KPIs.
  • To provide team leadership and to take responsibility for the supervision, teaching, and appraisal of other staff as appropriate.
  • To assist in delivering on any clinical outcome measures and hold responsibility with the Service Lead for the completion of clinical audits and action plans.
