Costello is a Good school with Outstanding features – Ofsted, Nov 2021

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our Humanities faculty, specifically within the geography department. We are very proud of the value we place in humanities across the curriculum, with history, geography, discrete RE and discrete PSHE taught across all year groups weekly. We believe it is absolutely vital that our students learn about the world around them, the world before them, and they are prepared for the world we are about to enter. If you agree, we'd love to hear from you. If you'd love to work with a full team of specialists, who share your passion, then you've just found the job for you.

You will join a close knit team that are achieving special things, with GCSE results above national, and one that is at the forefront of learning across the humanities.

We invest heavily in CPD/ training and have fantastic links with other schools and professional organisations. New ideas and approaches are welcomed with open arms and coaching is used to unlock potential. We work very closely with our 'family' of partner schools and are currently the strategic lead for a unique teaching and learning project.

As part of the Bohunt Education Trust, there are plenty of opportunities for support, development and progression.

We have a strong desire to create a unique, innovative and rich educational climate underpinned by co-planning and collaboration between professionals, which has the possibility to lead to additional responsibilities.

    If you can:

    • Inspire and innovate

    • Nurture and develop (yourself as well as others)

    • Commit to, and raise further, high achievement and motivation

    • Optimise humanities learning for all

Then come and see us. We are looking for potential as much as experience so we welcome applications from ITTs. Here's just a few reasons why you'd be mad not to:

    · Our greatest strength is our people and we work hard to make sure you know that. Colleague wellbeing is very important to us and will always remain a high priority

    · Our team is our greatest asset. Colleagues at Costello are supportive, respectful and protective of one another. We are a team that put children first and enable one another to provide the best experiences and opportunities for those within our community

    · We strive to ensure that our learning environments are safe, supportive and enable learners the ability to learn in a high quality learning environment, with high quality colleagues

    · Planning your lessons is crucial and it's always easier when we collaborate – we've put in place hours of co-planning so that you can share best practice and resources and not have to sit at home doing it on your own

    · Our recent Ofsted inspection judged us as Good with Outstanding features, and said that 'Leaders, teachers and support staff work together as a tight-knit team to meet these pupils' pastoral and academic needs very well. Good relationships between staff and pupils ensure typically calm, respectful behaviour across the school. Pupils enjoy school and feel happy and proud to be here.'

Closing date for applications: Monday 29th April 2024, 9.00am.

Applicants are welcome to come and have a tour of the school and meet the team at any point. We reserve the right to interview early for suitable candidates.

Bohunt Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share and demonstrate this commitment. We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships . The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks, including enhanced DBS checks (including a self-disclosure form), online/social media checks and satisfactory references.
