    Description

    ADAS, part of the RSK Group is looking to appoint an Assistant ArchaeologyConsultant on a full time, permanent basis to work out of their Bristol office on a hybrid basis.

    The position would best suit an ambitious and highly motivated individual with strong communications and time management skills who is looking to advance their career in commercial archaeology, geoarchaeology, heritage consultancy and client relationship management.

    Successful candidates will work flexibly on a wide variety of archaeological, geoarchaeological and environmental consultancy contracts in a fast moving, client focussed commercial environment.

    The role will involve:

    • Carrying out archaeological and cultural heritage desk studies, consultations, research, data management and analysis and report writing, liaising with client and statutory bodies as necessary.
    • Carrying out archaeological watching briefs, trial trenching evaluations and strip, map and sample excavations
    • Carrying out geoarchaeological fieldwork and reporting
    • Producing WSIs, archaeological fieldwork reports and project archives for small-scale projects in accordance with relevant legislation, planning policy and CIfA Standards and guidance.
    • Using your knowledge of archaeology and cultural heritage to carry out consultations, research, data management and analysis in order to produced archaeological desk-based assessments, heritage statements and cultural heritage chapters for EIAS
    • Ensuring that work is completed to the required legislative standard, delivered on time, meets project profit targets, and is delivered to the client's satisfaction.

    Successful candidates will have:

    • Previous professional experience working in commercial archaeological fieldwork.
    • Proven ability in archaeological recording techniques and record keeping.
    • Proven ability of the archaeological supervision of plant
    • Ability to carry out manual work in an outdoor environment in all weathers.
    • Working knowledge of DGPS surveying techniques
    • Degree level education or higher in archaeology or a relevant subject.
    • Full clean UK driving licence
    • A valid CSCS card

    Desirable:

    • Demonstrable experience of writing high quality technical reports, for example desk-based assessments, archaeological fieldwork reports, for archaeological fieldwork and/or heritage consultancy projects.
    • Working knowledge of ArchGIS
    • Previous experience of geoarchaeological fieldwork.
