Description of business line:
The Global Markets Business Unit (MARK), groups together all global market activities within Global Banking and Investor Solutions, across the full product range.
MARK has the following duties:
- overseeing the full cycle of market transactions (research, design, origination, distribution, related trading, execution, compensation) processed with the Group's clients.
- developing new financial products and services.
- maintaining the Group's expertise on global markets in a broad sense and ensuring market operators are aware of the risks related to their transactions.
MARK aims to:
- offer a wide range of multi-underlying financial products and services to the Group's clients (financial institutions, corporates, public/semi-public entities, individuals) in order to provide an efficient response tailored to their needs with respect to investments, hedging of risks, financing and compensation;
- manage and monitor the risks related to its activities (in particular market risks, counterparty risks, operational risks and conduct risk in collaboration with RISQ and SEGL);
- optimise the use of scarce resources allocated to global markets (risk-weighted assets, balance sheet, cash, earning capacity), in compliance with the targets and limits set by DFIN, General Management and RISQ.
Key purposes of the Role:
Reporting into the MARK Chief of Staff the role will provide strategic counsel to the Global Head of MARK providing a critical component in supporting a successful leadership team.
Primary Responsibilities of role:
Use organization skills to manage a portfolio of projects
Help staff and their teams interpreting, understanding and carrying out the vision and strategic intent of the MARK division
Participate in strategic planning and budgeting
Help the Global Head of MARK prioritise projects and develop cross-departmental relationships to deliver on strategic goals
Exercise discretion with confidential information to keep Global Head of MARK appraised on situations within the division and enable updates to group council
Act as proxy / information funnel, dealing with as many issues as possible before they reach the CEO desks
Represent Global Head of MARK in meetings they are not able to attend and make discussions in their absence
Provide advice to influence overall agenda for the division offering unique perspectives to uncover new possibilities and challenge ideas before they are committed to action
Help to manage executive communications, brand and relationship across the wider organization
Profile required:
Required Competencies / Experience
Strong communication skills both written and verbal - English is essential with additional French preferred
Extensive background in a similar role (Project Leader, Business Manager, Prinipal in Consulting firm)
Deep knowledge of Markets business activities, relationship management and regulatory compliance
Background in Change / crisis management
Able to develop strong relationships across the Bank
Strong Analytical skills:
Able to evaluate and provide advice on strategic decisions, while also being able to monitor performance of objectives
Leadership Skills:
Able to influence and develop relationships across a diverse matrix structure. Proven background in developing colleagues, setting clear goals and highlighting their importance
- / contributions to maximise their talent
Ability to handle several projects at the same time
