REED HR is delighted to support our public sector client who wishes to recruit a Data Governance Officer to join their HR & Corporate Services / Legal & Governance team
This role will develop & promote improved information management practices & support the Information Manager to provide a high quality information compliance and governance service.
Business Transformation:
- Support digital transformation initiatives by reviewing, designing new & maturing information management practices to deliver best practice & develop action plans & manage information to improve compliance processes, systems & procedure
- Advise on information standards & codes of practice to assist with managing information in line with legislation
- Support the delivery of the Open Data Strategy by promotion of data standards, engagement with the business &publication of data to the Portal
Central Support:
- Maintain compliance with legislation & codes of practices to ensure best practice & statutory obligations are met
- Champion record keeping & information control for legal & evidential purposes & provide guidance on cataloguing information assets on the Corporate Information Asset Register
- Provide advice, guidance & training on the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments as part of legal obligations
Compliance:
- Undertake reviews, audits & maturity analysis to determine compliance & effectiveness against Governance standards
- Member of the incident response team in the investigation of potential & actual data breaches & complaints concerning noncyber data. Maintain the noncyber data incident register & provide support on change initiatives, governance risks & recommend opportunitiesto reduce noncyber data security incidents
Training:
- Support delivery of a programme of information governance training including the development & maintenance of guidance manuals & elearning
Personal responsibilities
Drive improvement culture within team & in other business areas through effective working relationship
- Work as part of the Information Management Team providing support where needed
Criteria
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a legal or information governance role
Knowledge of information based legislation to include: Freedom of Information Act,
Environmental Information Regulations, Data Protection Act & UK General Data Protection Regulation
Ability to conduct information governance audits & report findings to identify recommendations for corrective action
Excellent attention to detail, analytical & research skills
Awareness of current affairs and of the environment which group operates in & key issues in information governance.
Assimilate information & explain complex legal, regulatory & policy requirements
Excellent time management skills manage workload within deadlines
High level of interpersonal skills, strong influencing skills Ability to project manage legal and governance projects
Skills:
Experience in a legal or information governance Knowledge of information based legislation HND/HNC or equivalent
