    Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Team Leader for our very successful Art and Design Technology department. The current role requires an Art specialist who will lead Art throughout the school, sustain high standards of teaching and learning, promote high achievement for all, ensure efficient use of resources and support exam classes across GCSE Art (essential) and A-Level Arts-based Textiles and Photography (desirable). As well as a focus on Art, the Team Leader is responsible for leading the Art and DT team as a whole, developing a shared culture and supportive approach to the teaching of these subject areas.

Art and Design and Technology are popular subjects at Parliament Hill, with very healthy uptake at GCSE and A-Level. At A-Level, we work as part of a wider LaSWAP creative team, offering Textiles and Photography arts-based courses as well as Product Design at PHS. We have excellent facilities across the department, including specialist Textiles and Photography rooms, a dark room and a fully equipped workshop. The team has worked hard to develop a challenging and inclusive curriculum and has built excellent partnerships with creative organisations and universities. We are looking for someone who is excited to lead the team on the next stage of our journey.

The Team Leader for Art and DT will be an experienced and well-qualified graduate who has a genuine passion for and commitment to promoting a love of Art and Design. The post holder will be an inspiring role model to pupils who can demonstrate that with excellent teaching and relevant support, all students can go beyond any limits they may place on themselves.

We require someone who is evidence-informed and engaged with contemporary practice to provide innovative leadership to an energetic and committed department. Excellent organisational, management and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships and inspire confidence with all stakeholders.

Parliament Hill School is a highly acclaimed girls' school with excellent academic outcomes. Located on the edge of Hampstead Heath, we provide a vibrant environment for rich and stimulating learning experiences. Proud of our distinctive character as a diverse and fully comprehensive school, we value individuality and celebrate the relationships that make us a uniquely positive and supportive school community. We have an unswerving commitment to our inclusive culture and a well-established reputation for providing an education of the highest quality for girls. Students and staff benefit from our mixed sixth form through the highly successful LaSWAP consortium, which is the largest school 6th form provider in Camden, with an unrivalled curriculum and opportunities for professional collaboration.

The school is committed to providing excellent continuous professional development programmes for all staff. Parliament Hill, in collaboration with Torriano Primary School, has formed the North London Alliance Research School as part of the EEF's Research Schools Network. Our innovative cross-phase partnership brings together primary and secondary teachers and leaders to implement evidence-based EEF approaches to raise the attainment of all pupils, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The school is ideally situated with excellent transport links into other parts of London and beyond. Gospel Oak overground station is five minutes' walk, while Tufnell Park tube station is 10 minutes away. The school is also very close to the magnificent open space of Hampstead Heath, which is renowned for its many recreational and sports opportunities as well as outdoor swimming facilities.
