    Job summary

    An excitingopportunity has arisen, for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian, to jointhe well-established Leicestershire Home Enteral Nutrition Service (HENS) on afixed term contract or internal secondment for 12 months.

    The post holder will managea caseload of adult patients receiving enteral nutrition in the community,including at home, daycare and care homes. Although the primary focus is adult specialitiesthere are strong links with the paediatric team.

    This post will be offered at aBand 5/6 depending on the successful individuals experience and can beoffered on a full or part time basis with a job share being considered.Any internal secondment applications should be agreed with your line managerbefore applying.

    Thisfriendly, forward thinking and supportive team consists of Dietitians, DieteticAssistant Practitioners, Dietetic Support Workers and admin staff. The team is involved in pre-discharge training and preparation, post-dischargemonitoring, coordination of supplies of feed and equipment, maintenance ofenteral feeding tubes, and provision of a trouble-shooting service for familiesand professionals.

    Previous experience in clinical adults and/or home enteral nutrition is desired, however, if you can demonstrate an interest in adult home enteral nutrition but do not yet have the required experience, training and development opportunities or a development position can be agreed

    Main duties of the job

    We have close working relationships with the wide network of healthcare, social care and education professionals involved with our patients, such as Leicestershire community Nurses and acute trust services.

    You will need excellent communication skills. We operate a proactive hands on working with enteral feeding tubes, equipping you to work collaboratively with patients, carers, and professionals.

    Thereis established service-wide Continuing Professional Development and closeworking relationship with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS TrustDietitians, providing more general opportunities for development. The service has a growing involvement inresearch and audit, and is also involved in the pre-registration placements forstudent dietitians.

    The HENS team is part of the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) Nutritionand Dietetic Service, and provides services to adult and paediatric patientsresident in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who require Enteral Nutritionat home.

    The LPT Nutrition and Dieteticservice as a whole covers a broad scope of dietetic work including adult and paediatric outpatient clinics,domiciliary visits, inpatients, mental health and learning disabilities,specialist weight management services, and work with nurseries andschools.

    Thepost will be based in the LNDS Service Headquarters,close to the M1/M69 junction. Applicantsmust hold a full UKdriving licence and have access to a car during working hours.

  • Car owner with a valid UK driving licence, and willing to use car during working hours to travel between required work venues. Dependence on public transport is not suitable for this role.

  • Post-registration experience working in a varied dietetic environment. Has developed expert practice in Adult Home Enteral Nutrition and aware of different ways of caseload management and delivering services. Can demonstrate evidence of continued professional development ( keeps a professional portfolio, BDA Continuing Professional Development Award, peer reviewed publications, presentations). Is able to demonstrate ability to initiate and be involved in audit/research activities.

  • Previous involvement with the pre-registration practice placements for Dietitians
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • An Undergraduate or Post Graduate Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or similar non-UK qualification. UK Registered Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council.

  • Working towards completion of a validated course in specialist area of practice or working towards gaining the Diploma in Advanced Dietetic Practice.
