    Environmental Advisor

    We're looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our Kier Rail team to help deliver several rail projects across the Northern or Midland regions

    Location: North (Greater Manchester, Newcastle or Liverpool) or Midlands (Birmingham, Milton Keynes etc.) - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required

    Contract: Full Time, Permanent

    What will your responsibilities be?

    As an Environmental Advisor, you'll be working within the Kier Rail team, supporting the design and delivery of projects. The role will provide specialist advise to the project teams on the legal, client and company requirements and procedures ensuring all the required environmental compliance obligations, objectives and targets are met.

    The role will champion environmental and sustainability, encourage and support others to do so through promoting and driving Kier Transportation Sustainability Strategy, implement and meet targets within Rail's One Planet Action Plans (OPAP).

    Your day to day will include:

    • Update and maintain the Environmental and Social Management Plan and supporting documents.
    • Ensure all environmental permits, licences, consents, and other 3rd party conditions are identified and in place in a timely manner and that any conditions are communicated and complied with
    • Work proactively with project delivery teams to ensure environmental risk and opportunities are identified, communicated, and managed.
    • Assist in the project application of the Kier Group Integrated Management System to meet the requirements of ISO 14001:2015.
    • Investigate environmental incidents and produce investigation reports and communicate lessons learnt.

    What are we looking for?

    • Environmental/Sustainability degree or equivalent
    • Associate or Member of an environmental/sustainability institute (e.g., IEMA)
    • Relevant experience in an environmental management (preferably with a background in Rail projects).
    • Good knowledge of the broad sustainability agenda.

    Experience in dealing with key stakeholders, especially, supply chain managers and client representatives, as well a wide range of internal staff from operational to design and management.
