The Opportunity


The Public Affairs Officer forms part of a high performing communications team who help deliver our public affairs activities for EDF in the UK.

Reporting to the Senior Public Affairs Manager, this role sits within the Communications Directorate within Strategy & Corporate Affairs and is part of the central Communications centre of excellence, designed to provide flexible support in both media relations and public affairs.


We are looking for an engaged and talented communicator to work in conjunction with the full Public Affairs team and the Head of Corporate Affairs to support EDF's government and stakeholder relations, occasionally supporting with public relations activities as required.

What you'll be doing


The Public Affairs Officer will escalate issues as appropriate to the Public Affairs team and will make recommendations and suggest solutions on communication issues.

You will support the Senior Manager in delivering the public affairs plans for the EDF Business Units, with an emphasis on nuclear, provide advice and guidance on external communications matters and support with the creation of social media content for events and public affairs activities.


Who you are


As the Public Affairs Officer, you will be planning and drafting communication materials and briefings on specific topics, so we are looking for somebody with excellent communication skills, both written and oral with a particular focus on communicating complex topics to a variety of audiences.


You will have previous Public Affairs experience with a good understanding of UK politics and the UK political process, good influencing skills and ability to work well with others in a large and complex organisation.


We are looking for somebody with a good understanding of consumer affairs and key consumer topics in energy and the ability to communicate complex, technical issues in a more simple and effective way.
