    Summary


    Our client - a successful, growing accountancy practice based in East Leicestershire - is seeking an experienced Financial & Tax Accountant to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

    It uses cloud-based applications to provide a broad range of accounting and business support services, mainly to early-stage technology businesses, many of whom are based in Cambridge or London, with a growing number overseas.


    The practice supports its clients with all aspects of bookkeeping, financial management and reporting and provides a number of other advisory services, including monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasts, support for funding rounds and assistance with claiming Government support for research and development activities.

    The Role


    This is mainly a compliance & tax role, working collaboratively on research & development tax relief claims, employee share incentive schemes and EIS / SEIS investments, as well as overseeing the production of year-end statutory accounts and company tax returns.

    The role will also include assistance with on-boarding new clients before handing over to the outsourcing team and building a portfolio of clients to manage independently.

    Responsibilities include:
    Acting as a key point of contact both internally and for clients, building a portfolio of clients to manage independently over time
    Ownership of year-end statutory accounts & Corporate Tax returns

    Liaising with the outsourcing team to monitor progress with bookkeeping transactions in preparation for the year ends
    Managing in-house resource for preparation of year-end balance sheet working papers and preparation of annual accounts and company tax returns, with subsequent review before sending and reviewing with clients

    Managing other tax compliance issues including annual share options submissions and preparation of a small number of self-assessment tax returns
    Assist with preparation of R&D tax credit claims
    Assist with preparation of EIS / SEIS advanced assurance and compliance statements
    Assist with EMI share option valuations and filings
    Assist with checking of Vat returns following calendar quarter ends


    Skills & experience:
    ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with experience in preparing year-end statutory accounts and company tax returns gained in practice
    Up-to-date knowledge of corporation tax legislation
    Effective and confident communicator with clients and colleagues at all levels
    Ability to effectively prioritise a diverse workload and meet deadlines
    Strong IT skills including the ability to work with a wide range of cloud based accounting applications
    Collaborative worker, supporting others and prepared to ask questions when unsure
    Eagerness to learn and develop and progress

    The package:
    Full time position
    Flexible working with option to work 2 days a week from home (after the completion of the probationary period)
    Salary £40k to £50k, depending on experience
