About the role
As Risk & Assurance Specialist within Cadent Gas you will;
- Ensure all work in the team is effectively planned and executed ensuing optimum use of resources and timely delivery to internal and external customers alike
- Combine key knowledge with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Deliver and take ownership of a specialist service within agreed internal and external process, procedure, timescales and expectations

Key Accountabilities
To effectively plan, design and deliver second line assurance associated with business and data quality risks across the relevant area of Cadent and contract partners for all work types
- To provide recommendations that drive effective and efficient controls and processes, drawing on best practice to support the business in its focus on continuous improvement
- The post holder will be accountable for:
Delivering the data quality and business aspects of the Assurance plan to mitigate identified risks while seeking opportunities to improve the efficiency of business processes
Delivering ad-hoc investigations in response to significant business events or business change initiatives
Producing assurance reports which effectively communicate the agreed scope of work, key findings and recommended actions
Managing 3rd parties where assurance activities are outsourced (internally or external to Cadent)
Liaising with Assurance Teams across other Networks and Central Operations and with the Central Risk & Assurance team to share learning from completed assurance and understand evolving risks and challenges to inform future assurance coverage o Managing a Network focussed Assurance team to deliver the above
Supporting Regulatory Reporting (RRP) activities as required
Monitoring of compliance activities (e.g. AQAD, e-learning) for all teams within the Network /Central Operations o Monitoring and reporting performance against the Assurance Plan and delivery of associated actions
About You
Regulated utility or industry experience
- Experience of managing 3rd party contracts for the delivery of boughtin services
- Strong knowledge and understanding of assurance delivery and practices, internal control frameworks and risk management activities; and skill in undertaking assurance principles and practices
- Ability to demonstrate strong root cause analysis problem solving techniques
- Experience in change management
- Experience in a controls or assurance focused role and can demonstrate a track record of risk identification and mitigation
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment, key business drivers and Cadent's operational activities and how they are likely to develop
- Demonstrable track record of developing successful, long lasting, relationships across the business including ability to engage, challenge and influence senior managers, deal effectively with resistance to proposals and secure their buyin and support
