    We are looking for an enthusiastic band 7 upper gastrointestinal (UGI) clinical nurse specialist (CNS) to join our team working at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT).

    The post holder will work closely alongside one other existing UGI nurse specialist and be part of a larger multidisciplinary team consisting of gastroenterology and general surgery consultants, radiologists, endoscopists, dieticians and other professions such as pharmacy.

    This is a full-time substantive position.

    Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and passionate about improving care for patients and should come with a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.

    Good knowledge and practice of nursing for gastroenterology and/or endoscopy inpatients or outpatients is essential.


    The post holder will be fully supported through access to medical staff daily, weekly MDT meetings, regular departmental meetings and study leave appropriate to the job role.

    To provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets
    To be responsible for developing and delivering the patient pathways within the Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) service, including outpatient clinics, triaging of referrals and specialist nursing advice for colleagues and patients

    To provide specialist nursing care and support and deputise for their line manager in the management of their clinical speciality.

    To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover for any area specified acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research
    To use specialist nursing knowledge to review and interpret a range of clinical investigatory results, in conjunction with the medical team, to determine the next stage of the pathway (e.g. discharge and referral back to GP, or referral to MDT or specialist services as required).

    Knowledge of research and audit, including implementation of findings and review of outcomes
    Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
    Good IT skills, understanding of the MS Office suite
    Advanced IT skills or use of Excel

    Experience in either a junior specialty role or team leader role
    Experience with managing patients in a relevant specialist area (e.g. Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, Colorectal)
