  • About this role

  • Being part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring that BT meets its legal obligations under the under the Investigatory Powers Act. Specifically, under this role, you be responsible for ensuring that systems are in place that enable BT to meet these UK network obligations cost effectively, with appropriate security and meeting legal & BT operational requirements. This will involve working with network designers and stakeholders both across BT and government/law enforcement (globally). In addition to the design and implementation of these systems, the role will also involve providing expert technical support to these systems.
  • Occasionally travelling globally for durations of up to two weeks at a time may be required as part of this role (taking COVID pandemic / travel situation into account).
    You'll have the following responsibilities
  • You will help ensure that obligations systems can deliver legally required information and services to Government, Law Enforcement, and other authorised agencies in line with relevant legislation.
  • Focus of this role is design for obligatory platforms, including various life cycle aspects such as requirements capture, design, test, implementation and support.
  • Providing support to operational teams to resolve live system issues.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure specific deliverables are acceptable from a compliance and legal policy perspective.
  • Interface and technically lead specific programme and project deliverables with wider BT Lines of Business.
  • Occasional development of obligations system roadmap/evolution plans.
  • Formulate business relationships, acting as a trusted advisor, at a senior level internally, cross Line of Business and externally.
  • Design and improve existing processes and systems through innovation.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Have or be prepared to undertake security clearance at an appropriate level
  • Have experience of design
  • Experience in configuring IP networks
  • Have some skills in VMWare, Linux, Windows Server, AAA (courses available)
  • Able to identify security measures required to protect systems/data
  • Some knowledge of BT products and services including their platforms and underlying network architectures
  • Can work across the business with various teams ranging from technical architectural teams through to support teams in order to get obligations solutions scoped, designed and implemented
  • Have an inquisitive proactive approach
