Engineering @ The Printed Group We're in an enviable position with a team of print, software development, and customer service experts, a massive football pitch-sized factory, and a design team that can rival the best. We have a culture of continual improvement and our tech stack is largely cloud-based. Our platform powers our own factory operations as well as servicing hundreds of partners across the UK. Our multicultural engineering team builds, grows, and maintains our applications and platforms. We work with technologies ranging from PHP and .NET to front-end technologies like Vue, AngularJs, and React. Our offices are located in Central London and Cramlington, near Newcastle in the North East. About The Position You'll be part of the team focussed on the our print platform, PrintedDirect ( Whilst the system has been in existence and carefully maintained since 2017, and used primarily for servicing our eCommerce shops and manufacturing, we've recently launched this as a service and a new brand in the group. This is a significant step forward for the business and the team tasked with continually improving it. As a Full Stack PHP Developer / Software Engineer at The Printed Group, you'll be:
    • Enhancing and developing the platform API, used by storefronts, manufacturers and our own internal teams
    • Writing clean, secure and tested code
    • Collaborating with team members for technical discussions
    • Documenting technical aspects of new or changed APIs
    • Continually developing your skillset and industry knowledge and sharing your learnings and experiences with the team
    • An ambitious problem solver who loves building applications and extensions
    Responsibilities: You will be working under the supervision of our lead Software Engineer who is based at our offices in Central London but regularly visits to the Newcastle for collaboration on projects. Specifically, you will:
    • Implement requirements for new functionality and changes to our existing website
    • Ensure that project progress is communicated effectively and delivered to schedule, and that only changes that have been approved/signed-off are implemented
    • Work with our internal QA team
    • Deliver code that adheres to best practices and that has been tested thoroughly locally before it's sent to QA
    • Submit your changes to code review and make revisions based on discussion thereon
    You'll need to be able to commute to our London office weekly (at least 1 day). Requirements Skills and experience required:
    • A minimum of 2 (two) years in a programming role within a business
    • Proficient in PHP and Typescript
    • Strong knowledge of SQL and more specifically Postgres native features
    • Writing scalable code to ensure fast API response times
    • Experience with unit and integration testing
    • Eagerness to share your ideas and contribute to continuous improvement
    • Front end capable in HTML, CSS (LESS/SASS)
    • Working knowledge of Linux, preferably Ubuntu - command-line is especially valuable
    • Ability to work to specific requirements and deadlines
    • Hands-on and able to take on diverse tasks as part of a small team
    • Excellent verbal and written English language, interpersonal and communication skills - We like good friendly people
